book binding types
There are many choices in book binding options and we have created this section to help you make the right decision for your needs. Several processes are described below with links to the required machines and binding supplies. Of course, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have. |

A spring-like coil is spun or wound through several small round holes in a book. Each end of the coil is cut and bent or "crimped" and the book is finished. This binding method is similar to the common term "spiral binding," but opens and closes much smoother without catching on any wire loop ends and is fairly lightweight in comparison. It has excellent lay-flat ability and will not pull apart like Comb or Twin Loop Wire binding. Also known as plastic spiral binding.

A plastic tube with comb-like fingers is opened (or spread) into a position that allows punched sheets with rectangular holes to fit over the comb. When released, the comb fingers retract keeping the pages together. This is a very cost-effective method for short runs with little setup. A clear advantage is that the books can be re-opened and pages can be removed/added. Sometimes called Cerlox or GBC binding.

Unlike the single spiral wound wire of commonly known "spiral binding," Twin Loop wire is a unique, double loop wire binding system that provides a simple, versatile and durable binding solution for various books. The wires come "pre-opened" and the pages of the book are hooked onto the looped "teeth." A wire closer is used to force the wire closed. This is a one-time use method that cannot be re-opened to add/remove pages. Sometimes referred to as Wire-O® or Spiral Wire Binding.

The VeloBind® and QuickBind systems consist of two plastic strips secured along the binding edge and provide a professional, book-like finish. This method is commonly used for legal transcripts and is great for filing, stacking or mailing. And, with Hot Knife binding technology, spines permanently lock pages into place to keep reports and proposals secure. These spines come in a variety of sizes and colors for all of your binding projects.
